Located in the valley of Strathmore, Perthshire, Belmont Centre is situated in an estate of 50 acres of woodlands and playing fields.
The most northerly of SOEC’s Centres, Belmont has a wide range of on-site activities such as rope walks, zip wires, archery, games and challenges ideal for team building.
Belmont has undergone recent refurbishment to create modern, comfortable accommodation and facilities, housing up to 200 pupils plus accompanying staff in Cedarwood Chalets.
The area is ideal for kayaking and canoe trips. The Sidlaw Hills and the Grampian range can also provide great locations for hill walking and climbing.
Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC) has many years’ experience in outdoor education and are leading advocates of intelligent outdoor learning. We are guided by the principles that outdoor education should be fun but that learning about ourselves and our place in the world is a natural outcome of our activities and programmes.
Our programmes are challenging, motivating and enjoyable but designed to maximise delivery of learning, personal and social development and Curriculum outcomes. SOEC has three centres each situated in pleasant rural surroundings, accommodating groups from 10 to 200 people and within easy reach of the major towns and cities in Scotland.
We offer day visits through to week long residentials and programmes under the following headings:
SOEC regularly hosts music, drama & study groups; cultural exchanges; sports teams; Uni / college groups; youth groups; Duke of Edinburgh participants; & big events (e.g. Young Carers Festival; World Challenge).
As each centre has park land, fields, halls and classrooms we can offer:-
Team building & activity programmes
A training, study & reading week location
Field study opportunities
A touring Base for cultural exchange / sporting groups
Outdoor learning CPD training
