Outdoor Studies combines geography, environmental education, adventure and outdoor education to create an exciting and varied curriculum that supports employment in the outdoor sector and beyond. The programme is designed to develop physical performance in the outdoors, an understanding of a wide range of outdoor environments and a belief in the value and importance of outdoor education in contemporary society.

Outdoor Academy under the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure.
The programme aims to develop both academic and practical skills, the strength being in the ability to link theory and practice, delivering material inside and outside of the classroom.
The course includes week long fieldtrips visiting North Wales, Scotland and the Alps. There is the opportunity to study overseas, a popular destination is Umea University in Arctic Sweden where students learn about the Scandinavian philosophy to outdoor education.
