This is an outdoor education centre with a lakeside location at the foot of Snowdon.
Kent Mountain Centre can house up to sixty people in basic but warm, clean and comfortable accommodation. Most packages are fully catered, with tasty and healthy meals provided. However, self-catering is an option for smaller groups.
The accommodation is in a number of separate units, so the centre is ideal for groups of different sizes or larger groups wishing to have separate accommodation for males and females, or for students of different age groups.
Kent Mountain Centre welcomes enquiries about residential visits of all lengths from two nights’ stay upwards. Instruction is delivered by experienced and nationally qualified staff in groups of ten students maximum so that activities can proceed with a good pace. Whenever possible there is continuity of instruction, aimed at achieving the best level of learning outcomes.
This is an ideal provider for primary and secondary age pupils and those with special educational needs.
The centre is available throughout school holiday periods and welcomes groups of young people from youth clubs and organisations, colleges and universities.
Kent Mountain Centre can deliver outdoor activity courses to satisfy particular curriculum needs (eg GCSE and GCE PE, Public Services, ASDAN) and is also happy to host courses from other disciplines (eg geography or biology field studies).
The activities available include mountain walking and scrambling, navigation training, camp craft and expeditions, rock climbing and abseiling, gorge walking, sea level traversing, canoeing, kayaking, improvised raft building, team building using a series of team tasks, orienteering.
Almost all activities take place in the real natural environment, and are pitched at a level to generate genuine challenge. Where possible the activities will take the form of a journey, and will involve being out and active for the whole day.
