Our philosophy drives everything we do. We believe that every young person has a right to adventure and play outdoors throughout their lives. Not just one residential or one field trip. Not just something they fall into because there’s a great teacher at school. And not just as part of some flighty government initiative. Because it’s what makes us tick, makes us feel alive, makes us work together and makes us happy. This happens when the confidence and expertise exists in communities to take young people outdoors and let them explore, play and take risks. Adventure happens in schools, colleges, youth groups, sports centres all over the country all the time because of the amazing people that make it happen. We need more of those amazing people.
Channel Training is a specialist training provider in the outdoor sector. We aim to develop and support excellence in the industry through expert delivery, training and professional development.
A significant focus for the company is the effective delivery of government funded training. Apprenticeships present a great way of harnessing new talent, training instructors and supporting sustained development within the industry – but only when done well. Many of our learners work in residential outdoor centres – a real passion for us is to support the high quality instruction of children at these hugely valuable facilities. Other partners include high ropes courses, climbing walls and small outdoor providers.
We work with the DWP and Prince’s Trust to deliver flexible support programmes for unemployed and disadvantaged members of our communities across SW England and South Wales.
We work with schools and colleges providing vocational qualifications, outdoor activities, expeditions and professional development.
Please get in touch with us! People are what make our job special and we’d love to talk to you.
