Abernethy Barcaple is just over two hours from Edinburgh and Glasgow in the rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway. Set in our own private 20 acre estate, we are within easy reach of the famous 7Stanes mountain bike trails. We can accommodate 65 guests in dorm style cosy bunk bedded rooms and have two comfortable lounges and AV facilities available for group use.

The Abernethy Trust
Abernethy Barcaple is one of three Abernethy Trust adventure centres. We have been providing quality outdoor education in Scotland for over 40 years. All of the Abernethy centres are AALA licensed, every member of staff holds a current child protection certificate and our instructors all hold up to date NGB qualifications in all of our activities.
What Do We Offer?
Schools: We have built up an enviable reputation for providing an outdoor education programme that’s not only great fun for school children, but which also fulfils the outdoor learning criteria of the Curriculum for Excellence and the National Curriculum. Call us for a copy of our school’s booklet outlining how our programmes fit the CforE and NC criteria.
We also run a hugely successful DofE programme, including our popular Lear to Cook, Activity & Revise & Relax residential, and our canoeing and walking expeditions.
Non-School groups: We can provide the best custom built holidays and residential for your group. With our flexible price plans, you can make sure that your stay with us is exactly what you want it to be.
Year Out: If you are looking for something exciting to do for your year out, apply to join our Gap year team! You’ll learn some valuable skills and have the time of your life!
